Canon R6 Mark 3
My first camera was a Sony a6000. I bought it somewhere in 2018. Then on 2022 I upgraded to a Canon R6 mark 1.
On 2024 February Canon's sensor got damaged by a laser while I was shooting the Chingay Parade. This damage resulted a vertical and horizontal line in all the photos after. Replacing the sensor is one of the most expensive repairs for a camera. Canon's quote to repair was $1000+. So I decided not to fix the sensor. Depending on the scene these lines could be erased in post-processing to a varying degree of success. But it also affected the autofocus.
Fast-forward to 2025 November, Canon announced R6 mark 3 with considerable upgrades to the original R6. This triggered me to buy a new camera. I spend few weeks deciding between the mark 2 and mark 3. But the bigger sensor (32mp vs 24mp) and pre-capture mode sold me the mark 3, even it's about $500 expensive than mark 2. I bought the Canon R6 Mark 3 on 2025 December (Canon gave a 512 CF Express card with the camera as a promotion), and yesterday went out to take photos for the first time.
Camera felt pretty much like the original R6. But later I found out the image files are ~30% bigger and painfully slow to copy from camera to laptop. With the mark 1 I was using a SD card reader, but for faster shooting mark 3 need a CF Express Card. Now I also need to buy a CF Express Card Reader.
